Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), a corporate body specializing in the management of professional baseball affairs in Japan, was established in 1951. Its predecessor was the Japanese professional baseball league established in 1936. In 1939, it was renamed "Japan Baseball League" ; At the end of 1944, it stopped operation due to World War II; At the end of 1949, it was dissolved. NPB is mainly responsible for hosting the championship series and Star Games of Japanese professional baseball. It has two major leagues: Central League and Pacific League.
