Washington and Lee University (W & L), the ninth oldest university in the United States, was founded in 1749. It is located in the small town of Lexington, Virginia. It is also a unique "small university" in the United States, with a small number of international students accounting for 6%. In 2015, the U.S. school of Arts and Sciences ranked 14th.
